First I want to say a big thank you to all my brothers and sisters that have served in the past, the present and future. THANK YOU...
its been a very long time since I have been on here. I've been keeping pretty busy with deployments, a new granddaughter, and a new toy (2014 RAM 2500 4X4 Crew Cab with 6.4 HEMI. lol. if I remembered how to post pics I would. lol.
I have now been in the military for well over 24 1/2 years now. and it looks like I will most likely remain here till they make me leave. lol. I've been having way to much fun. I can say this, I could not so willingly do it without the support of all my family and friends. them as well as you are what gives me as well as so many others the drive to do it and keep doing it. so I say a big thank you for supporting us.
God Speed and God Bless...

Just remember, soldiers do NOT start wars! …Politicians do! We send our young men and women off to die, while the so called "leaders" sit in their leather chairs, behind their big oak desks… Soldiers don't start wars! ...Yet we ask so much of them, and give so little in return. Many give their lives defending someone else's beliefs… because it is their "duty"! They go knowing what they fight for may contradict their own convictions.. Knowing what they fight for may be wrong... Yet still.. They go… We say the lucky ones come home… But are they truly lucky? They come home to lost jobs, lost homes, lost marriages, lost love and lost children… Lost arms and lost legs… Lost dignity and lost pride… Lost support from the very people who sent them into harms way… They do not deserve what they get… These soldiers are not the cause of the pain.. only the recipients. I am saddened that my country asks *so much* of these human beings, yet gives so little in return… I'm ashamed to thank them, as it seems like a slap in their faces… Therefore, ...I am sorry… So sorry we made you do what you've done. So sorry we've made you give what you have given. So sorry we've taken what we have… So sorry we've given so little in return…. Please forgive us… Please help us to be as strong as you… We could only hope to know the honor and courage that you exude… In memory of those who are no longer here.. and those who are, but no longer have their lives… I offer my heart felt thanks, for what it is worth… I know it is not enough.. I know it will never replace your losses…. But please... accept it for what it is…

I as well would like to offer my thanks to all of the Veterans. Also to definitely offer a thanks to the families of all those who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. As stated by others above - there is nothing that can be put into words that has enough meaning for what we owe you.
Shores, it sounds like my dad(1912-1993)and yours rolled over some of the same ground in WWII. He was in a tank division that went in at the Battle of the Bulge, he was also in North Africa, and landed in Normandy on the 2nd day of the invasion with the tanks. 3-1/2 years without a leave home. He rarely talked about any of it until the last couple of years or so when his health went south and he spent a lot of time at the VA Hospital. Still did not like remembering the war, his little brother (my uncle)was a waist gunner in a B27. His plane was shot down and lost presumably over the English Channel. None of the airmen on board were ever recovered.

Yes, my dad was in N. Africa, Belgium, Scotland, France, England, Sicily...12 countries total. He always spoke positively about the war. As a NW Arkansas farm boy, it was a major part of his life. I remember tons of stories sitting at the kitchen table throughout my entire live at home and after. He met Patton several times as the 62nd performed some special assignments per his request. At least that's what dad told me. After my mom died in 2002, dad lived alone until he was 97. At 96 he sent a home intruder back out the window he came in through using his hand gun. At 97 I moved him to an assisted living facility 3 blocks from me. He passed at 100 years, 2 months old on October 14, 2012. I miss him.
