The original bar passing lamps aren't sealed beam? I thought my bike had the oem light bar and my passing lights don't allow me to change bulbs, they are built in permanently it seems. I wanted to switch to led to match my headlight.

Yamaha motorsports plaza in Oregon has the light bar STR-5VN35-40-00 for 187.46 and the light kit : STR-4NK35-10-01 136.49 hopefully this will help you.

Are these the light housings that will fit the Truck Lite LEDs?

If you can't change the bulb inside the light housing then by definition it's sealed beam. I think the internet uses the term indiscriminately and gets itself easily confused.

I've seen the tri-bar style lights described as sealed beam but they are not, the bulbs can be changed. (They're so not sealed that those of using them have had to water seal them a little.)

For whoever wanted a picture:

Make it easy on yourself....get the factory passing light and turn signal bar, and put these LED's in. They are fantastic, no modification to the stock factory light bar or housing nor to the headlight housing mount (just did these LED's on my 2000 RSS). Also the factory passing lights are 4.5" (not 4" and the headlight is 7". Pretty much plug and play. You will have to add bullet connectors to the LED passing lights so they connect to the OE connections inside the passing light housing....other than that super easy.

Heck of a deal! I have already purchased the Truck Lite though. Having used them on other things, I really like them.

These appear to be the older sealed beam type that are reported to work with the Truck Lite 4 1/2"

That is the old style. The new style with single screw in the bottom will not work as the bucket mount nut will not let the 80275 light sit in the bucket if that makes since. waiting fordark to ops check the headlight. used the garage to set it it is bright even in daylight hours

Re:Lightbar options 9 Months ago
These 4 1/2 lights will not work on OEM light bar. The bulb is too small for the bucket trim and the bottom nut in the bucket will not allow the bulb to fit. I also had to grind away some of the headlight to properly fit. Someone on here and someone in the reviews on Amazon said that the are plug and play for the Road Star. That is not true! Since I had to modify the headlight now I am stuck with these passing lights that do not fit. Don't believe everything you read Huh?

Here is my light bar....pretty sure it's OE for a 2000 RSS. I did no modifications to get the lights into the housings.

Nocolor brother....one of us has a NON-OE light bar.

Re:Lightbar options 9 Months ago
I looked at your pic of the lights. They look the same as mine. I replaced the passing lights because of rusting, I bought them from Yamaha. They must be a little different in design. Does yours have the tall nut inside the passing light bucket? The old light bulbs are 4 3/4 and the new one are 4 1/2.
This is what a bought. Can't find any dimensions.
