Las Vegas Bike Fest 4 Months, 3 Weeks ago
Just curious with all the resent events this week in Vegas if people we're still planing on heading into Vegas for Bike fest.

I would think attendance might be down some this year.

Las Vegas is alive and well. Please don't let the act of one deranged individual stop you from coming and enjoying everything that this city has to offer!

In San Antonio back in '79, we had a sniper picking people off enjoying the Fiesta parade.
Did not stop anyone the following year.
If we stop enjoying ourselves during events, they win.
I WILL NOT let them win.
If I could be there, I would be.

Yep, heading out tomorrow morning with about 8 people. We've had this trip planned for about 6 months, so we're not going to let some f'kin asshat ruin our vacation. We rented a house and are going to do some local riding around Valley of the Fire and maybe Hoover Dam. Don't think we'll hit the "strip" though...probably just go to Fremont Street where they're having the event on Sat for a bit then hit the casinos!

I rode down to the shooting site this morning and took some pics and videos so I could bring it home since I live in Las Vegas. First time I'd been out of the house since the shooting.

The Strip is open now with two of the four northbound lanes closed down next to the concert site. It was pretty surreal being down there. I live a few miles south of Mandalay Bay.

EVERYONE in Vegas would want you to come, and I'd venture to say that includes the victims, both recovering and deceased.

We can't empower asshats like that by changing our plans or lives as a result of his actions. The site is actually like just another very somber tourist destination here in town now. Don't hesitate to ride by and give some respect to the victims of this tragedy.

Also remember that Nevada is an open-carry state if you're inclined to arm yourself. I always open-carry when I ride, even when I was at the shooting site earlier today. Not sure if the Bikefest is firearm friendly however.
