Lithium soap based grease 5 Months, 2 Weeks ago
I'm taking my rims in to get new tires mounted tomorrow. It says I have to use Lithium soap based grease for the rear bearings. Besides the Yamalube for $25 a tube, is there a more economical grease that I can use?.

I just bought a large tube from Lowes for $ 6.00. Should last me a life time but then again I'm 63. They have it in a spray can too.

Lithium soap base is a common alternative to clay base, and is increasingly the standard. Virtually all marine grade bearing grease is lithium based. Don't eat it, don't bathe in it. The petroleum content will help it absorb into your skin.

On a similar note, I bought a tub of grease when I was 16 years old doing my first brake job.

40 years later I'm still using it.

Lithium soap based grease is pretty common stuff, also sold as "White Grease".
Pretty cheap, I use a small tub of the thicker stuff for bearings & the spray stuff for garage door tracks & other non-critical things.

This fits in here, right? I mean, I can make this fit in here ... right?
