if you strip it down too much and lose any character the bike may have, it will just be one of a shit load of Roadstars for sale.

I've sold two bikes this year and my philosophy was fix'em up, clean'em up and sell them on. Knowing what you paid for the bike I'd be inclined to sell it just like it is and take the profit without doing anything to that bike...unless you think it's absolutely necessary. Yeah you can make more money stripping it down and selling individual parts but in my book that bike has a built in profit margin without turning a wrench. Hell if I was within driving distance I'd give you a grand more than you paid for it right now and think I got a smoking deal. Try advertising the bike like it sits and see what happens...could be some easy money out there.

Well I decided to return it to more or less bare bones. I had a similar post to this on the FB page and already had most the parts spoken for before I made up my mind… Part of me really wants to sell the tins as well and make it into a really cool bobber….more than likely ill just sell it. I guess time will tell!

Price it right and then take the beating like a man.

You do not ever make a dime on a bike if you love them like I do.....I buy high, sell low and make a zillions mods to them.

I am pretty lucky I have made money on every bike I have sold. For instance the bike I just bought I have sold almost $700 worth of parts off of it. Which means I’m only $400 into it! And I’m certain I will be able to get at least a grand for it. Which will make my profit around $600 and I had fun doing it! I’ll probably list it for $2,000 and shoot for the stars haha

if i was to sell my bike, i may have a shot of breaking even. a girl hit me and insurance paid me $3600. i fixed it for $1100. so i have a $2500 cushion. however i never expect to make money or break even. i always seem to end up like takehikes. i figure there's value in the use of the bike while i've had it. sort of like taking a vacation. nothing tangible when you get home but memories.
