Indian's Stage 3 3 Months, 1 Week ago
Indian is now offering a stage 3, 116" package for their bikes. Competing with HD's 114".

Re:Indian's Stage 3 3 Months, 1 Week ago
I noticed they won't give any dyno results. They just give a % over stock. I found dyno results in an article a while back and the stock dyno results were very low for what the bike is. Not at all impressive. They were lower than my 110 and they have the advantage of FI and Polaris R&D along with a machine shop facility to build the engine. I did all of my head porting in my garage by hand and without a flow bench of any kind and got better dyno results. The 111 should have had me beat hands down. I will say that Indians stage 3 kit is a good answer for the HD engine. I hope they stay right up HD's ass. Now they need to make it an option from the factory.

Both cost more than a typical 4 door car, so to me, it does not matter how much ass they have stock, or how much you can bolt on for another 6 grand. I don't race my Road Star. All it has to do is run to my satisfaction, and it does that. I have no clue what it's numbers are, only what I experience when I ride it. I wish them luck, but I'm not the target market because they (both companies) perceive the value of their bikes far higher than I do.

For the upgrade asking price you can buy a used sport bike or VMAX. Spending an extra $4k-10k on motor work on a cruiser/touring bike is stupid. I can't wait to see if the new 2018 Goldwing cam break in the 11's stock....nearly 100 lbs lighter, more power, more aero....I believe last generation wings were solid mid 12 second bikes.

Some people don't want a sport bike or VMax. That big bore upgrade is 2K plus install. You might have 4K into it when done. If you had someone install a BB on a R* you would have at least that much into it. Back to 2 bikes now, As you know I have a BB on my R* I also had a Honda CBR for a while and sold it. I'm 60 years old and a sports bike isn't my style and for some bigger riders a sport don't even fit them. When I'm on a ride with friends and we decide to have a little throttle fun on a back country road I want the extra power without going home to get my VMax or sport bike. We all do mods on our bikes around here and most have thousands in mods that we will never get back without going into the engine. An engine mod is no different, It is for the owner and no one else. I personally think that Indian is doing the right thing by offering this kit. I'll bet it has a few buyers. There aren't many upgrades offered by or for Polaris bikes and this one is a good one. I will guarantee that if you took 1 ride on my bike with the BB you would return with a great big smile on your face. But I do understand that each persons price justification is their own opinion.

Dave may I suggest Demo Rides at Celina this year, You could have a part time job if you can get the people with money to part with it.

+1 on that. Paying to have a BB kit installed is way cheaper on a bike that's already paid for. roadiemort wrote:

A BB kit cost the same whether the bike is paid for or not.

True, but if you are not budgeting for a 450.00 bike payment every month, probably seems a little more “do-able” from the disposable income perspective.
