Yea I was stoked when I found it. Only problem with it is it came off a 1996 Road King so the sub-frame assembly is all wrong and they (Champion) want $900.00 for the right one. They also told me the wiring harness is all wrong. I know you are thinking wiring on a sidecar? It has lights and an electric tilt to adjust the lean according to load. Also has a disc brake. Legally, you don't need any of that shit, and the tilt thing will probably never get used. I'm gonna try to mount it with what I have but I may have bitten off more than I can chew. I have mounted Velorex 562's 3 times, but this rig is mucho heavier, and the last thing I want to do is have the frame break on the bike because I didn't use the correct sub-frame assembly. I called Champion, but the guy I got on the phone was somewhat of an asshole (that makes 2 of us which never works out well). I'm thinking the front 2 mounts are the same , it's only in the rear where the frame configuration is totally different. Yes it would be nice to have everything right and everything working, and it may well come to that, but I told my wife I could probably mount it since I have experience at this. The asshole at Champion seemed unwilling to discuss the possibility that I just needed the rear sub-frame assembly, and he was not at all interested in giving me any credit on my Road King hardware or the electric tilt assembly, which alone is almost $800.00 from Champion.
In the meantime I have other things to do to it that are easier to do with the sidecar off. It's got 6" X 2" pullback risers that have got to go, they just don't look right. I found some really cool risers on eBay, it's hard to explain them but they are perfectly round. Never seen anything like them before. They are not chinese, made in California, a bit pricey but very cool, and you know you can't put a price on cool. I was gonna try turning the pullbacks around facing forward like I did on my Bike, but just to get to the riser bolts I have to pull the nacelle which is a PITA. I can see them, but I can't get a wrench or a socket on them, and even if I could, there's no room to turn said wrench or socket withut damaging the tins. However, I digress.
Still having fun though... the right side old muffler was a real bitch to remove, but as a consolation, the left one practically fell off. I can't believe on these Samson True Duals that there's no additional mount between where the pipes bolt to the head and the muffler bracket(s). Seems like a recipe for disaster. I think I'll call Samson today and ask about that. Probably just piss off someone else on the phone, but oh well. Longstanding members of the RSC all know I'm quite adept at pissing people off. Not so much since I got ordained, now I'm a kinder, gentler Pobasturd.
Also discovered while wrenching on it that it's not even a H-D motor. It has Delkron cases and Axtell cylinders. Beefy, pricey stuff I know. I certainly have no problem with it. Wondering now if it's stroked or bored or cammed. I have owned an Evo before and ridden 2 others, this one doesn't seem particularly stouter then they were. Time will tell....

I suspect the electric tilt thing is overkill. A properly setup hack will lean slightly away from the bike unloaded & come to level with a rider onboard.
You've done it before, I wouldn't really worry about frame stress on a Softtail, it's no lighter than any other HD frame.
In fact, because the Softtail swingarm is a heavier assembly than a Roadking or other straight swingarm HD the frame itself might even be beefier.
You hear plenty of people complaining about thin walls on the HD touring bikes frames resulting in death-wobbles but I don't think I've ever heard of a Softtail doing that.
Check with your friendly local HD dealer to see if they sell the same frame-strengthening brace for the Softtail that they do for touring bikes.
