tachometer 1 Year, 8 Months ago
anyone know the wiring system for a 2007 roadstar aftermarket tachometer? i bought a tach, without a schematic. the dial light was easy to figure out.there are three more wires, green, black and a black with a yellow tracer. is green the ground? black with the yellow tracer a line lock? then the solid black the signal? if so where do i connect the signal wire to? coil?

What tach did you get?

Can't you look up the diagram online?

Read through this thread. I think they are pretty much all the same.

Color of wires should all be the same.

First off, do you know if this tach is twin fire specific? There are coils that fire every other revolution and fire on the compression stroke, but many now fire their coil every revolution.

Easier to run the pickup sensor off the crank than the cam. It'll make a difference what the tach reads if not designed for twin fire engines.

I have installed two, or three, 'different' brands of twin fire tachs for Yamaha V twins and all had the same wiring color.
