new tire uninstall - stupid me! 2 Years, 3 Months ago
Put my rear tire on my HD today. pumped it full of air and it seemed to seat real easy. I didn't hear a pop, just a little sound from the tire settling in. held air fine.
I took it down the street and did a turn at the end of our call-de-sac with no problem, so I took off down the road. Got a few blocks down the street to the stop sign. I puled out (turning right) onto main street and the bike felt like it wanted to go sideways.
What the hell? Did I forget to put the nut on the axle? Nope! The tire wasn't seated and separated from the rim.
I slowly walked/rode the bike home by sitting on the seat, feathering the clutch, and basicly walking the bike, while trying to keep as much of my weight as possible off of the seat. (couldn't believe how hard of a arm workout that was)
I'm hoping that I didn't just mess up my new tire by bringing it home this way.
I put the bike back up on the lift and tried to get air into it but it wouldn't seat. I wrapped a tie ratchet strap around it, but it still didn't seat. Looks like tomorrow I get to take the wheel back off of the bike and see if I can get it seated.
WAY TO GO CIKE...what a dumb ass I am. (at least I didn't go down. Could have been worse)

Pull the valve out of the stem and then put your air chuck on the stem while you wrap a ratchet strap around the circumference of the tire.

The ratchet strap will cause the sidewalls to press against the rim bead and the removed valve will allow the air to fill the tire more quickly causing the sidewalls to blow out faster than the air can leak out. The bead should slide over the rim bead.

Took forever but I finally got the pop I was looking for. That was by far the hardest tire I have ever seated. Almost dropped the bike off the lift too. (My fault, got in a hurry) luckily I had another lift to help support the bike.
An all around bad experience. My 2 rules for working on bikes. 1 don't drink and wrench (wasn't drinking) 2 don't wrench when your in a hurry or pissed off ( didn't follow that one and it showed in my quality of work)
Time to stop being stuck on stupid and get my head on straight before I do the front tire.

Watch your sidewaiis, for a bit to make sure something didn't get damaged. I'd think if it did, it'd show pretty soon.
