Foot clutch has a stop too. My foot can't push down past the floorboard.

Looking closely at the photos provided, I don't see any physical stops in place to limit clutch travel.

I'm intrigued as to where you have anything installed on the foot shifter, or elsewhere, that would entertain my curiosity.

I think the floorboard is the stop

If the Barnett is different than the stock bearing then the 7003B probably won't work. At one time there was a lot posted about it on the Delphi RSR forum.

The pedal cannot be pushed further down than the level of the floorboard. Because the pedal is removable, I'm able to set the level of the pedal such that I can control the travel. This is to say that if pushing down on the clutch pedal 5 inches is equal to 1/2" of travel at the clutch arm, I can reorient the pedal on the spline to allow for either more or less travel before my foot reaches the floorboard and can push no further.

When I set it up, I measured the distance that my clutch cable pulled the arm, and set it so that my foot pedal would pull it the same amount.

To be technical about it, it's POSSIBLE for the pedal to travel further, but I'd have to put only my heel on the pedal and slide forward on the seat to get my leg further forward than the floorboard and drive it down with my heel another few inches. It's never happened, mainly because I'm busy driving the motorcycle lol.

As for the bearing, I have no idea exactly what's wrong until I open that cover up. But in the mean time, I've got another bike I'm more interested in working on so this road star will sit until I feel like fussing with it again.

I'd honestly sell the whole bike for $2,000 at this point to fund another XS650 build, I just enjoy that platform more lately. Of course I'd fix the clutch prior to selling. I know it's set up in a strange way, so consider it a parts bike (that runs and drives), but even for a parts bike I think it's a decent deal.

Sitting at a bar 24 miles from home with the same exact problem. Felt like a clutch cable snapped so I called my kid to come get me. a little closer inspaection and the cable is fine, I had been noticing the adjustment changing especially when hot. I tried puttin the adjustment alll the way in then adjusting the spline arm out to make up for the change and it just doesn't move at all when I did that. I have the barnett setup and about 10K on it. Guess I'll see what it is when I pull the cover but wondered if Nick figured his issue out yet...

At least the beer tastes good and most of my ride was done...

It seems to be happening with Barnett clutches. I had a Barnett on my other roadie but didn't have that happen ever so I don't know for sure. But I'm familiar with the parts and know with heat that the thick aluminum pressure plate probably expands pretty good, when added to the space taken up by the expanding clutch stack as it heats up I imagine the free play gets eaten up pretty good and maybe even losing the available shaft rotational travel to disengage the clutch who knows. It's a kakamini theory I know but the only one that comes to mind.

Looking forward hearing what you find after you get in there.

Hey Jaybo, haven't had any time to pull the cover in the past few days. Been helping my little brother get his XS650 chopper all squared away in the meantime.

I promise to update this thread with detailed pictures of what I find inside the cover though, and hopefully we can determine whether or not it's a particular trend with these barnett pressure plates as another user on here was having the same issue with his.

Nick, going to pull mine today so will report in as well.

Turns out to be the throwout bearing. Also found the clutch not installed correctly on the recall work. Note that the dimples are scattered. What would that cause?
