Rear grab bar/Landon's Bar. 4 Years, 11 Months ago

To All Forum Members,
Back in January I inquired, on this Forum, about purchasing an item that was referred to as Landon's Bar. In doing so I discovered that this bar was originally produced by "Landon" then later by a member here, smhowse. I made additional, general inquiry postings in January stating that there was a need for this item and confirmed my interest to purchase one. I even went as far as to send smhouse several direct PM's over a two month period stating that I wanted to purchase one of these bars from him and asked for a kind reply. Up until now I have not heard back from smhouse at all. My deduction from this lack of response is that these bars will no longer be available for purchase and are not going to be produced by smhouse in the foreseeable future. If I am wrong, I apologize for interfering with anyone's business.
Out of my desire to have one of these bars I contacted a company here in Georgia in order to have one made. The factory I used has the capability of fabricating these bars on a production basis. I received a raw prototype from them yesterday, mounted it to my motorcycle and snapped a few pics which I have attached. This is an unfinished item. In order to produce this item in quantity, production tooling and a CNC machining program would need to be purchased. I am willing to pay for this if there is indeed the interest of other RoadStar owners to purchase them. My best estimate for pricing, in Chrome finish, would be no greater than $175.00 per unit to include shipping via Priority Mail. Powder coated finishes could be made available as the manufacturing company has that finishing capability in house.
At the present time I am not having this item produced but simply putting out a feeler to see interest since these bars are not readily available. Please give me your feedback so as I can make a decision as to whether or not to go forward with this project. My background is in machining, deep drawing of metal, and metal component fabrication and finishing. I can assure everyone that if I have these bars produced they will be of the highest quality. I have also been involved in the motorcycling community for over 40 years and with Yamaha since my first RoadStar in 1999. Please let me know your thoughts. Thank you all!
Rich

I would love to have one, but is there any way to get the price down to around $100. I am just asking and I understand all the stuff that goes into it, I just think you could sell more at a lower price than $175......just asking. I think it is a great idea and thanks for tackling this project for a product that many of want.

Gosh, more than anything I would like to do that. I consider myself a buyer too. I am just like everybody else here trying to save a buck. Over the years I have purchased more custom parts than I care to even think about. A dollar here, a dollar there...it all adds up. No one likes to feel like they paid an unfair price. Thanks for your interest.
