6 piston brake caliper 3 Years, 12 Months ago
So, putting together a list for a 21" front wheel conversion. Smokes told me that the mid 90's YZF750 front brake caliper would mount right up to my left side (planning on left front brake only). Would also do the larger rotor (13" I think).

Problem is finding said caliper. Admittedly, I've only looked for a couple days, but it seems eBay is a no go for now. Question I have is does anyone know of another 6 pot caliper that bolts right up like the one mentioned above? I'm wondering if the other brand of sportbikes from the same time frame used the same calipers as the YZF750

I think there were some R1 or R6 calipers that work, but not sure of what years.

There are three ways of doing things. The right way, the wrong way, and then there is the Norwegian way.

Looking at the earlier years for the R1, before they went to radially mounted calipers, they would bolt right up (my 2006 R1 is radially mounted). Problem is, they aren't 6 pot calipers like I want.

Are you looking specifically for a 6 piston cuz it looks cool… or are you concerned about the stopping power? If the latter, you cant go wrong with the R1-R6 caliper. They're one of the best on the market and there are tons of those available. I know quite a few have done the conversion too, so it cant be that hard.

If you are going with an oversized rotor, you can go with just about any caliper you want since it won't be bolting directly to the fork leg anymore. You could even go with 2 on the same side. You just gotta design up something to mate everything together. I looked into a 18" rotor but it would put the caliper up into my fender.

Just did some quick digging around and if you're dead set on 6 piston, it turns out the later R1s after 07 have a 6 pot. You can pick up a used set on ebay pretty cheap… you could probably sell one to recoup some of your expense…

Those are radial mount not axile. It Would take one hell of a adapting bracket system.

I thought Deadlion managed to do the R1 6 pot mod a couple years back?
