#1017933 Lifeguard (User) Alright everybody out of the pool. Platinum Boarder Posts: 1108 Alternator cover screw removal 7 Months ago   OK so I'm trying to remove the screws on the back of the alternator cover to replace the small insert on the front and can't get them off to save my life. These are the small Phillips screws. So I have tried PB soaking them and an impact screwdriver and they don't budge. Are you sure those are Phillips? They may be those special Jap screws that look like Phillips. I am putting on a different cover and cannot get them loose. Look like phillips, but the internal angles are different. Its trans fluid and i think the other is kerosene mixed together. I know its a screw head but sometimes a strike from a hammer will shock the threads enough to break there grip enough to remove the bolt as well.   Logged     Last Edit: 2017/07/25 07:39 By smokescreens.     The administrator has disabled public write access. #1017989 texasscott1 (User) Two of a kind Platinum Boarder Posts: 4486 Re:Alternator cover screw removal 7 Months ago   It's half & half ATF and Acetone.   Logged     My 99 Standard Test Mule Scott B.   The administrator has disabled public write access. #1017994 ctkog (User) Expert Boarder Posts: 523 Re:Alternator cover screw removal 7 Months ago   Lifeguard the things that usually work for me I do in this order is hammer shock first, then penetrating oil, wait a while, then heat if needed, and if that don't work I try to get on the head with some vise grips and clamp down on the head hard as hell. good luck I forgot one more thing. try taking a chisel with a good sharp edge and angle it across the side of the head in the direction to loosen the head, smack it to get the chisel to bite first.
