Sorry I mis-understood, I thought you installed a used belt from the donor bike when I said check belt rotation. Don't use belt dressing like that sticky stuff some people spray on a V belt. You can clean the belt with soapy water and a scrub brush and after it dries use regular silicone spray and it will help condition the belt and quiet it down at least for a while until it gets a chance to seat into the pulley. That is, as long as the tension isn't to tight. I would rather have a little chirp on decel than a belt whine from being too tight.

I will try that. Just so I am making it clear (cause again describeing sounds is just near impossible) it is not a chirp once in a while on decel, it is a constant squishy squealy sound when it is not pulling on accel. Does that make sense? Sort of like a blower does, sort of a whining sound. Theonly thing I can think of is like sneakers on a gym floor but constant. (Squeaky sneakers on a gym floor is what we used to have when we had gym class and Coach A hole actually made you run during class, for all you young guys who never had gym class).

Crap I wish I could describe it better.

What you are describing is the rubber belt is worn to match your old pulley and not this one. Only thing you can do about that is what dave said which is wash it with soapy water and clean it good and make sure it is tightened properly. You can run if for a while and hope it wears in to this pulley or go buy a new belt which I doubt you want to do.

I understand it isn't a chirp. If anything you are to tight if you are getting a whining type noise. You might just want to loosen the belt a little to eliminate that as the problem. A whining belt is an indication of being tight, a chirping belt is an indication of being slightly loose. you are better to have it a little loose and chirp on hard decel than whine on any decel.

I am sure it is not too tight. I will try the clean and wait method.

The pitch of the belt teeth and the pitch of the pulley are not a match. your going to wreck the belt. Or the belt is entering the pulley at a angle . just my $0.02

As I now look at the two pulleys the old one has very rounded edges to the teeth and the new one has flat edges to the teeth. Does that help with the ideas?
