What kind of time frame is there with this bearing? On the complete failure, leave me on the side of the road? I don't want to be left with no options.

I'd be more concerned with breaking other stuff. If you are the kind of guy that stands on the clutch at a light with the bike in gear I would not do anything until it's fixed.
