The 3.3 gal mustang tank (low tunnel) would absolutely nail the bobber look on this, with a smaller headlight of course.

Bike is looking fantastic though, thanks for the inspiration

I am thoroughly impress with how the bike has turned out so far. It's actually starting to inspire me to build my bobber now. I thought the tank would look out of proportion with the stripped down look of the bike, but with those bars, the bigger wheel, and the larger seat, it looks just fine. I will probably follow in your footsteps when I start mine, only thing I'd do different is ditch the rear fender and put the fattest tire I could fit on the ass end.
thanks.

Thought you might like these semi-fat tire bikes

Well, things are slow going here on this project. But, that is ok. I just work on it a little at a time as I feel like it.
I was planning on leaving this bike kinda dirty and ratty and calling it Dirtbag.(don't know what i'll call it now) After buying the new front wheel and seeing it all nice and shiny, It made the really dirty nasty rear wheel look out of place.
This is what I pulled off

after A LOT of cleaning (steal wool, brass brush, chrome cleaner)

I ended up with this. I didn't do the spokes (and don't plan too) although not perfect, the rim turned out 100 times better looking than it started.

I also finely got my 31 tooth front pulley put on that has been sitting on my work bench all summer. (thanks, Barmandr)
Doesn't it look a lot better than the OEM pulley?
This gets 90 ft lbs. and red locktite right?

got to take my first ride in a long time on this bike. first one with 21"
It acted like it wasn't getting much fuel unless I held the throttle open some. The fuel pump didn't sound right either. I could hear it while the bike was running. I'm getting ready to pull that off anyway and go pumpless so i'm not to worried about this part.
I could also hear what I believe was a front caliper rubbing. swish..swish...swish... hope a rotor isn't warpped and I just need to adjust the calipers spacing. So, it turned out to be a short ride. At least I finely got to take it down the road and see how things where going.

I spaced the calipers out another .055 (total .305 spacers) and everything sounds fine now.
Man, that 31T front sprocket sure made a difference. can't wait until spring when I can play with it some more. there goes whatever gas millage I was getting, cause it is going to be hard to stay out of the throttle now. who am I kidding, this bike isn't build to baby anyway.
I still have to put on my 1700 igniter which will help a little with the rev limiter and give me a little more play room

fuel pump seemed to work just fine this time. (it's still coming off though)
