Trying to get my 1999 roadstar going for the new season but need to get my seat up to charge my battery. Have always had difficulty with the seat latch but this time it will absolutely not move with the key. Tried making your tool but I think I have the wrong size. Could you give me the dimensions on the hook and on the distance to the tape. Then 4" more to 1st bend in the hook, both sections of the hook measure 1" each. Taking the side covers off may help you see where you need to be. I used a old CB antenna, I am not sure a coat Hanger wire would be stiff enough. But... my directions are designed to make this up in advance and teach yourself how to use it OR have another RS handy to get a feel for it with the seat off and then travel right out to yours and you can pop it off pretty quick.
