It was on the same order as our SVS. An old timer engine rebuilder told him to run a quart of transmission fluid through the gas tank. I have seen one or the other... I used to have an RX7 and a mechanic used trans oil to get it started. Smoked like hell and back while it burned out of the motor. I asked why it was done and he said it caused a build up of compression. And he did an compression test right there and sure enough that is exactly what it was doing. A lot of the old timer tricks work where do you think some of the stuff we can buy now comes from. Whether they'll work on engines like these is a good question. All these fixes were used primarily on older technology motors. He would pour beer in the carb to clean out build up of carbon on the pistons and valves. I didn't believe him so he showed me on an engine he was rebuilding. He showed me the build up, put it back together, got it running, poured the beer in the carb while it was running. Broke it back down and holly crap it was night and day difference. Moderator Posts: 9480 Re:Alternative to Sea Foam? 7 Years, 1 Month ago   Yep, many a time I watched my dad rev the engine from under the hood to keep it running while he poured trans fluid or water down the carb. Trans fluid smoked like a freight train . He said when he used water it would instantly steam all the intake system.....softening deposits so they would break loose. Tell you what, it worked.
