engine noise 13 Years, 1 Month ago  
I bought a 2004 silverado and when I ride it for 15 or 20 miles it seems to have quite a bit of engine noise like a knocking noise.It dose this when not under a lot of power just when evening out and cruising.has anyone else ever had this problem

JUST FOR INFO....Tech exchange m2002-004 from yamaha describes exactly what you have described. Even though it is a 2002 post, im sure it will apply to you...Check your service counter and ask them to see the TECH Exchange. A reputable dealer should have it on hand...if not contact me and Ill fax it to you.

It's hard to distinguish 'normal' noise from 'problem' noise without hearing it.

The R*s are noiser than water-cooled bikes and tend to become noisier as they heat up, especially on hot summer days and the Silverado windshield tend to magnify these noises. When I put my winshield on it sounds like a different bike.

If you can, try and hear other R*s. If you don't have that opportunity, then take it to a dealer you trust for him to check it out.
