Tire / Wheel Questions 13 Years, 2 Months ago
I have a couple of questions. I am looking at a new front fender. It comes in 5.5" wide for 18 wheel or 5.5" wide for 19 to 21 wheel.

What size would best fit stock wheel & tire?

I've read a lot about the modification to the swingarm to get a larger tire in there. I have a new fender which i will be putting on, plenty of clearnace for a larger tire and wheel.

With the swingarm modified, what would be the largest tire and wheel that would fit ?

Also suggested vendors for wheels ?

Thanks

Most go to 18" wheels for the back and 18 or 21" for the front when they buy custom wheels; larger wheels show better (more wheel/less tire) than the stock 16".

For a 16 or 18" wheel/tire combo, stick with the 18" fender as the 21" will not have the correct radius and will 'come out' and the ends.

Without swingarm modifictions, a 180 on a 5.5" is the largest looking tire that will fit. You can put a 200 on the 5.5 but it will look as wide as a 180. You can use a 200/6.0 combo but then the brake tab on the right side must be removed to another location.

Here's a couple of links to start you out:

On the rear you can run a 240 tire on a 16x7 rim with no major mods to the stock swingarm Ive been running that set up for a year with no problems.
