Consider this. 3 Weeks, 6 Days ago
If the RSC does die, and all the data is lost, there's no reason another one couldn't / shouldn't be started. Started in a way that this would never happen again. It would take a long time, but some of the data could be re-introduced to the new site. It would be better than nothing.

In all fairness he hasn't attacked anyone or been that bad in awhile. And most of the time he tends to just have an opinion that most don't want to hear. This kind of comment coming from a moderator though hopefully doesn't make the transition to the new site.

Those are a good points to consider. I am somewhat new, about 4 years on this forum. The vibe of the forum changes each year as members come and go. The bike has been discontinued for over 3 years and parts more unicorn each year.

Modding has dropped and some have moved on to different brands of bikes or stopped riding. The hardcore will remain. For me, the Road Star is a collector's item. Signing over my 108ci 2003 next week to a pal until I get financially situated. Getting the bike back within the year.

I agree the tech stuff will be reintroduced. I plan to stay until I cannot ride anymore.

That's not far from what others have proposed.
Start a new more secure modern version from scratch & archive the old in a form that would allow reading but no further additions.
That way not only the tech sections but the threads will still be readable - I believe that's where the really deep info is.
To illustrate that point - how long ago did Dchopper do his fat tire conversion in a stock swingarm with extensive documentation and pictures ... but it never made it to the tech section?
There are literally hundreds (thousands?) of discussion threads like that & there's no way to put all that on a DVD unless you made it a 2500 disc set.

That sounds good. I am on board for a one time donation or an ongoing subscription paid monthly, annually or whatever. I have no interest in changing bikes. Took a long time and lots of help from people I know as a result of the Clinic to get it set up the way I really like it. This is the motorcycle I will own until I am no longer able to ride in a safe manner.
