What makes them Special? 7 Months, 3 Weeks ago
I'm looking at buying a 2004 R* "Special Edition" out of Canada and I'm wondering what exactly constitutes a Special Edition? I see the frame is painted white but other than that it doesn't look all that Special. Any information would be appreciated.

I would guess its added chrome and paint schemes limited to only the special edition. Also a speedo with special edition listed on its face. I'm sure mechanically there is no difference.

To the best of my knowledge Yamaha never made a "special edition".

They did however produce a limited run of 1600 called the Silver Edition. The only thing special on them is the speedo face plate.

So other than that nice looking badge and I'm sure special labeling on the speedo face plate were there any other differences?

Well, obviously they made a "Special Edition" and you've got the badge to prove it. So, if I read this right we're looking at paint, badge, hard bags and maybe speedo face plate to delineate this bike from any other run of the mill R*?

Never seen a Factory Road Star with a white frame. Not saying they don't exist, just saying I never saw one. Never heard of a Special Edition until now. Is it just a Canada thing maybe?

The special edition is a particular model that won a Participation Award at a D.C. elementary school!
