the 1600 has a rev limit of 4250 and the 1700 is 4700.. the extra rpm is helpful in the lower gears with the smaller pulley..

I plan on putting a K&N intake system and some V&H Long Shots. In addition I'm going to get a ported manifold. How does the ignition system help? Like what does it do? Also if I buy high compression pistons, do I need to change anything else on the motor?
If you have high compression pistons you should already have a Dino 3000 in there and that's all you will need for the HC pistons

Yea, but when they say Dry state of Texas that just means you can't buy liquor on Sunday!

Re:Hello all, from AZ 4 Months ago
All Right, so I've got the LongShots on now (they sound fantastic), as well has a K&N high flow air kit and also rejected the carb (replaced stock main jet with a dynajet 195 jet). There is also now a ported manifold on the bike. When I put everything to recommended tuning (e-clip on 4th position and 3.5 turns out on pms screw) the bike ran really rich. To the point of stalling when I turned the throttle. When it did run, it was boggy as hell until I hit the high RPMs. So i moved the eclip one spot up and put the PMS screw to 2.74 turns out and it's still a little rich. How should I get the bike to running happy again? And also what else can I do to give the bike more torque?

A DJ 195 seems kind of big for a 1600. I have an 07 1700, it is set up with a DJ185 main, 37.5 pilot, DJ needle on 3rd groove and PMS ~2 turns out. I have K&N with modified stock intake and Vance and Hines Bigshot exhaust. There a few tuning experts that will probably give you what you need for your 1600 if they see your post. I'd say your are running to rich.

Hey Joe, I would suggest starting a new thread about your jetting and letting your intro thread fall off. You will get better responses due to the titling of your topic. Thanks again for your service.

EDIT: I see you did already.
