Carb swap 1 Year, 6 Months ago

First off, Curt I put the new intake manifold on and it looks real nice. Thank you for the nice work you did on the manifold for me!
2007 roadstar 1700
Now, I have this problem and I can not figure it out. I bought a brand new hsr 42 carb. Jetting is as follows Pilot: 25, Main: 175, Pump Nozzle: 70, Needle: 97 on 3 clip, TPS installed and set at 664ohm at idle 940-958. The problem I am having is the bike will take a long time to return to idle if not at all unless I blip the throttle or grab ahold of the throttle shaft and return it which will work most of the time too. Now I have sprayed wd40, brake cleaner, carb cleaner, and starter fluid at this and there is no leakes around the intake to the jugs and the carb to the intake. I have adjusted the air mixer, the idle, and needle height and nothing has worked. I have taken a video and uploaded it to photobucket but it has not appeared yet. Says it could take sometime. Once it does I will post the web address hear for those who want to hear it and watch the idle. I am using a ESI 328 EZ Tach +Plus Tachometer for the idle. So any help on this. If not, I am ready to go back to the cv carb. If anyone out there has one and you want to just swap then I'm game. Just the carbs. Don't need cables, TPS or the choke cable. I still have my old carb but the accelerator pump nozzle is no good on mine and I can not find a replacement nozzle. So I do need a stock carb. Maybe someone else will get this to work on theres. Thanks for the help!

I have a serviceable carb body. It's sans slide assembly, main and pilot, top cap and bowl/ accelerator pump, but it's got a good nozzle in it.

Your throttle cables are in a bind you have them in to tight a bend which is a common problem with the HSR swap. You have to get creative with your new routing so they are all gradual bends. I find it best to run them over around the steering neck and down the left side of the bike.

Just saw you say no cables attached. that mean only one thing you didn't get the return spring on right when you reinstalled the throttle shaft crank on the cable side. Remove the crank and reinstall it and the return spring properly and make sure the spring coils are pushed up tight towards the carb body over the boss under the spring coils.

Going to take the TPS off and see if that might be causing the carb not returning to idle. Will check the return sring too. Thanks Curt
