Need info on wheel swap!! 7 Years, 5 Months ago
I have a stock 03 with wire spoke (Tube type) wheels...will the aluminum tubeless wheels from later model work, any modifications to do? Is so what the cost?

Why not just seal the rim and go tubeless. I did the back rim on mine and will be doing the front this winter. I will also be doing the wife's bike too as her's are spoke with tubes to. I used 3m 5200 marine sealer. It does take up to 7 days to cure but once it cures you will never get it off. After the tire was balance I also added ride-on tire sealer.

Thanks!
What type of prep is involved? Other than the expected tire removal. I guess the rim bead area is designed to seal? Have heard and read about the
Ride-On product was waiting to see if I could get tubeless rims first. Great idea using the sealer. I guess it's avaiable at any marine supply!

I have one suggestion from experience. If you're going to seal the rims then first make sure that the wheel has been trued and the spokes are at the right tension. Once that sealer is in there you may not be able to adjust the spokes or if you can then turning the spoke nipple may break the seal.

There is a set of R* mag wheels with tires, pulley and rotors on e-bay for a cheap price. All you need is the rear spacers and the one I bought was about $25. You would need to use your rear pulley or get a 1700 front pulley. I sold my mags off my 05 when I got my custom wheels for $350.
