Dipstick tube 1 Year, 1 Month ago
Just wondering which would be the best way to lower it, cut it off and use an expandable plug or cut a section out and weld it back together.Or just leave it the hell alone. LOL Trying to get Solo seat as low as possible.

Can you just modify the bottom of the seat pan?

That might be a possibility, my seat should be here tomorrow. It's a solo seat and I'm going to mount it solid (no springs) and trying to get it as low as possible.

Out of curiosity why not just put in a plug? Dipstick is useless anyway. You just need access when doing an oil change.

That's one of the things I'm considering, like you say, dipstick is useless. I was going to use an expandable plug just didn't know if it would seal ok or how much pressure is in the oil tank. My seat is at the Post Office so I'll know in a while which way to go. I may not need to do anything

I wouldnt use an expandable plug. Get a plug with proper threads and a socket head. Check with McMaster Carr out of LA they have all kinds of stuff like that.

I don't know that that would accomplish anything, the dipstick tube it self fits into a machined hole in top of the oil tank and has an o-ring and hold down bolt (no threads) May just cut the tube off, epoxy the hole in the tube shut and bolt it back on. I'll check McMaster-Carr to see what they have.
