AIS Removal 6 Years ago
Hey all, I am generally lazy by nature and dont like doing any more work than absolutely necessary. So in the case of AIS removal I abhorred the idea of removing my exhaust just to beat on the pressed fittings from the open side. With that said when reading through the removal tech article it mentioned that "If possible, spray the elbows with Freon"; well freon aint cheap or easy to come by these days so I thought I would try an experiment with something common and cheap and I must say it worked quite well IMHO.

OK, so DISCLAIMER: this worked for me, if you try this and mess up your bike or yourself dont come trying to blame me for your incompetence!

I went to the electronics superstore and bought a couple of large cans of compressed air (the kind you use for cleaning your computer.) There is a warning on the can that it must be sprayed with the can straight up, not leaning or upside down or it could result in FROSTBITE if you spray yourself (Hint Hint); well guess what, you take the can and turn it upside down, spray the fitting in the head (about 4 to 5 seconds), whack it with a hammer (just a decent solid thump when its still frozen), then start twisting with a pair of channel locks or vise grips. I was able to work both fittings out of the heads in about 40 minutes using this procedure and repeating it until they both worked out.

Hope this helps anyone else that may be looking for an easier method.
