A couple of BRAKE questions 5 Years, 11 Months ago

First off, on the front brake system, (lets see how do I word this) I've been thinking about the possibility of using a cable coming off of the the brake lever to a remotely mounted master cylinder that would use a cantilever to actuate the cylinder operating the front brakes. (there's a mouthful ![](https://wayback.archive-it.org/10073/20180228204134im_/http://roadstarclinic.com/components/com_fireboard/template/rsc5/images/english/emoticons/laughing.png) )
Second, on the rear brake I hate how the master cylinder sticks way out in front, even more so after moving my floorboards forward 3 inches. Since the cylinder uses a remote reservoir would the cylinder work if it were mounted upside down (in relation to how it is mounted now on the Roadie)?? Was also thinking of moving the reservoir up under the tank mounted along the backbone. Only concern would be the heat off the engine getting the fluid too hot. My intention is to make a custom bracket mounting the cylinder tucked in just above the floorboard mount and also moving the brake pedal pivot forward so the pedal rests at the front of the floorboard instead of the stock position (right on top of your foot)
This is still all in my head at this point so just throwing out ideas and looking for input from the clinic; pro's/con's even "don't even think about it's" if necessary.
Look forward to the replies.

the rear resevior can be moved anywhere.
the front, if you used a cantilever design, some serious math would be needed.
if you are trying to clean up the bars a little, there are MC available that are really clean.
you could also do a linked type brake system and lose the front lever all together.

1- But can the CYLINDER be mounted UPSIDE DOWN and still work without issue???
2- Actually on the front a simple 50/50 ratio working off the existing pivot in the hand control to plunger on the mc would work for what I have pictured in my head and the mounting location
3- not sure why but absolutely HATE the idea of linked braking (maybe I need to ride my sisters Vic Vision LOL)
Im not certain, but the idea I have may have never been done before, so I am apprehensive about discussing it...
(Cause I dont want to be beaten to the punch...like has happened before in other areas... ![](https://wayback.archive-it.org/10073/20180228204134im_/http://roadstarclinic.com/components/com_fireboard/template/rsc5/images/english/emoticons/sad.png) ...more than once ![](https://wayback.archive-it.org/10073/20180228204134im_/http://roadstarclinic.com/components/com_fireboard/template/rsc5/images/english/emoticons/blush.png) )
