going solo......... 1 Year, 6 Months ago
So I have been kicking this idea around for a while and as my bike is already in two different colors till I get her painted I think I will go ahead and get the parts to get her done. I recently picked up a landon bar from a facebook sight and am wanting to remove the rear seat and backrest. Problem with removing the rear seat is it has a Utopia backrest built into it and I will need a solo drivers backrest setup. I am not sure which way to go here. I also want to remove the rear luggage rack and get one for the fender and maybe also a rear fider bib.

Any incite from folks who have already been there and done that would be greatly apreciated.

I have a $100 Grasshopper mounted on top of an HD Diamondback rear fender trim. I like it because it flexes so doesn't make my back itch from any vibration.

I went the ED seat and solo backrest route. I couldn't stand the Mustang bib and took it off after a day. It doesn't lay flat or conform to the fender. My Landon bar and brackets are powdercoated black and I like the look of a clutter-free fender. I simply plugged the holes with black automotive panel plugs and I think it makes a nice clean look.

When I removed the passenger pillion, installed the E.D. seat and driver's backrest, I installed a Show Chrome fender luggage rack, because I knew that I was going to be taking some long trips, and would want the extra space to carry my stuff on. The bike had the stock sissy bar and the rear luggage rack anyway, so I just removed the pad from the bar. I've made several long trips with this configuration and had no problems and a lot of compliments. Twice now, I've ridden old Route 66 from OKC to Kingman, AZ., and this last time, made it the rest of the way to the AZ/CA border and back. My only problem with the packing setup is that, with my short legs, whatever is lashed to the fender rack makes mounting/dismounting the bike a bit of a dance.

II grab the bars and use the right footboard to stand on when I climb on from the right side.

The added height helps.
