You took the question I had last night right out of my mouth, but with a little twist. With all the controversy about to remove or not remove the AIS, how many of those high mileage Roadies had the AIS removed early on. That would give us some indication (along with plug reading, etc.) as to if the removal leans them out too much and reduces their life. Let us know your mileage and AIS status? My 2008 fi had it removed at 7K and now have 16K. Still too low to tell.

AIS doesn't affect your combustion burn, its a smokescreen for passing emissions. It injects fresh air into the exhaust to make it read cleaner exhaust (if I'm not mistaken). At any rate, one of the first things I did was remove AIS, probably wasn't long after my break-in service.

Yes, that's true. How many miles on yours without the AIS?

I'm sitting just shy of 80,000 km and I removed it before I hit 10,000.

2001 with a little over 89,000 miles.
AIS was taken off at about 45,000 miles.
The only thing I had to change out was a burnt out stater at about 80,000 and replaced it with a '05 or newer stater & rect/reg unit.
