Brake rotors 1 Month, 4 Weeks ago

Is there any actual difference in the rotor discs through the years? I am seeing lots of 02+ brake rotors but not much of anything for earlier. My rear rotor is pretty bad .. Going to rebuild the calipers too. Anyone got brand/part #'s of kits that have worked for you?

1700 rotors (front) are floating. Other than that no difference.

Was able to snag an NOS rear rotor off eBay not one month ago for $138 and change. My rear rotor, after 17 years, was looking rather poorly, too.

And, whereas, later front rotors are of a floating type, I believe that you can use any year rotor with any year caliper, without any difficulties. I know I'm running '09 cast wheels, with the floating rotors on them, on one of my '01s, with the '01 calipers, and they work just fine.

This is exactly why I was asking, does it make any difference if I use floating rotors with my floating calipers on my '00 1600? There is a much larger selection out there of the floating rotors.

You can use floating rotors and floating calipers together, however I would not recommend using fixed rotors and fixed calipers Something needs to have a little give in there

The rear is fixed caliper and rotor, but a swing arm and a fork behave very differently under load.

If you need a rear rotor I have one that came off my 2000 when I turned it into a trike years ago. You pay shipping and it’s yours.
