Those plugs look terrible. How much gap do they have from the pics it looks like a lot. Also looks like deposits on the center electrode. Besides looking rich something don't look right and I can't put my finger on exactly what it is.
Were those plug taken out right after getting back from a ride or right after idling for a while with the choke on?
they also don't look like NGK irridium plugs the center electrode looks to fat.

Tell me about it .
Was not idling too long. Went to top off the tank with fuel and stabilizer before putting it away. I did let it idle a bit just to make sure stabilizer got into the carb. Only a 5-10 minute ride.
They are DPR7EIX-9 iridium plugs so gapped properly.
Again, on the 35 they were pure white, so went to the 40 about 30 - 40 days before it went away. This is why I am thinking that the 40 is just too much. Just based upon plug reading 37.5 is where I most likely should be.

We are gonna get that pilot size thing figured out real soon here when using a Barons needle. There are a couple people that have installed an AFR meter that are gonna report back their findings. It does look like the 37.5 is gonna be the pilot to use with the Barons jet kit. I'm using a Speedstar kit and the 40 pilot is perfect.

Agreed...and thanks Dave.
This is exactly why I bought the AFR...to make sure and to eliminate some guessing. Unfortunately this winter will not let go. Until I can get it out on the road I am still guessing....and VERY interested to see what others are finding.
Again...thanks Dave!

" They are DPR7EIX-9 iridium plugs so gapped properly"

Just because they are NGK IR plugs it doesnt mean they were gapped perfect from mfg.

Gap ngk recs for that plug for our bike on thier website is .035" which is top end of yami spec and when i installed the same plugs in my 06 silverado i found 3 of 4 of those same plugs to be wider then .035" spec brand new out of the box.

Thoe 3 plugs were approx .038-.039" and had to adj ground strop a bit to get them to proper .035", so chk them out

Dave J said your plugs look to be wider then then std gap spec which seem too look a bit wide in the pics to me too so chk them out.

And while your at it spray some carb cleaner on/into the plugs to try to loosen up & romove some of the carbon on the plugs because they are close to beng fouled due to excessive carbon from running too rich.

Could also use an old school spark plug sand blasetr too which will do a good job cleaning them but you have to ensure you use 100psi or more comp air to blow out residule cleaning media from threads on plugs and from deep inside where ceneter porcelin is along with some braclean and or carb cleaner too.

The old school plug cleaners do a good job cleaneing fouled plugs but you must ensure that post blasing/cleaning the plugs are properly cleaned/sqeeky clean inside and out inc the threads and gap checked prior to reinstalling them because if theres any residule blast media left on or in the plugs it could get into cyl-s scratching them leading too oil use & eventual engine bore job,new piston & ring too.

And just curious, what mpg were getting running on righ side?

Scott

Thanks Scott.
I actually picked up 3 more plugs today and put them in. Took the last 3 so left the best one in from the front. Will clean these 3 up and use as spares.
Checked all 3 that went in and the 3 that came out. All of them well within spec (between .8 and .9mm). Did not think this was an issue as they were white (appeared lean) on the 35 jet so was igniting fine.
Thanks for the tip on cleaning and reminding me to verify gap and not just assume.

Be really careful if you ever try to tweak the gap ont he irdiums. My one attempt, was a failure.

Agreed. I kept the receipt so I could take back if out of spec. I think you mentioned this in another thread that I read and was not even going to attempt adjusting if not in spec. based upon your advice
