well i did the best that i could with out being able to get my hands on a 37.5 pilot jet. doesn't seem correct but i was able to cruise around 70mph with a ratio of 13.8-14.2. needle at 3rd notch from the blunt end ,spacer ,2 washers. i used a 40 pilot and ended up going way down to a 167.5 main. i have to order a 37.5 pilot, nobody seems to have one locally . makes me wonder how the yamaha stealership and the harley shop can say that they can tune your bikes for you.
That is actually about where Yamaha wants it but we go little leaner for fuel economy and it won't hurt a thing. Go with the 37.5 I think that will put you in a good spot.

while riding with my afr, it amazed me at how the little things really effect the ratio. the wind ,my feet on my highway bar pegs,up and down a slight incline, folowing behind a vehicle vs in the open.this is really a great investment for everyone. i mounted mine in a cup that i fastened to my 5"risers. the cup is from auto meter part#2204 http://www.ebay.com/itm/360621694536?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid and the afr gauge is a innovate igot from eb also . i got it for 125.00 but i see now the seller has gone back up on his price to 150.00
http://www.ebay.com/itm/291094875717?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649=p3984.m1439.l2649
here is a picture of my cup and gauge mounted. maybe one day i will get a fairing

best part is you can tune for "your" riding style. you will be amazed at how much a temp change can throw off the mix as well. but its nice to just adjust the pms screw till your idle is right going off the gauge. im pretty sure davej was the first one here to run the wideband and it seams to be taking off

+1 with tuning for your riding style. The only other way is extensive testing on a power absorbing dyno - expensive. Those inertia dynos are only good for max power which is fine if that's all the bike is used for.

Hey SmokinJoe,
Just wanted to bump this topic. Still a couple of weeks before snow is fully gone up here...but curious to see if you ended up getting the 37.5 and if so, the results? I switched to a 40 in late summer, but when putting it away for the winter found the plugs too dark so think it was running too rich. As part of winter mods switched back to 35, however based upon what you find may just put the 37.5 in. Like you have put on AFR, but not able to get out and ride yet....so just keeping an eye on this thread.

Thanks Dave.
Will pull one tonight and sent pic. They were new iridiums just put in around August. Saw that they were white (not grey) and just a slight hint of brown on the backside when running the 35 so this is why I switched to the 40 to begin with. If I remember correctly deep dark brown....again enough to make me think I was running too rich....
Will post pics later this evening
