The start of the HD h20 cooled bikes. No thanks. Not for me.

agreed, not for us, but if it helps bring new blood into the sport, IMHO, that's good

I remember the whining and gasps of unbelief(from hd owners)when harley introduced the vrod, the ugliest hd ever produced IMHO,but i guess water cooling is O.K. with producers and owners of harleys now.Not a bad looking bike(the street)...i would still like to test ride a bolt

Anyone notice the left side of the engine case and tranny? Looks a lot like the Bolts.

Designed and built after world wide focus groups.
The rest of the world have zero interest in HD's offerings....sorry guys but their bikes, like ours, are overweight underperforming pigs.
The were aiming at a world wide audience not just future HOG riders.
HD is a company/corporation and only uses its "heritage" to make money otherwise they could give a rat's ass about what we ride so long as we buy it (and the ti-shirts etc).
I'm betting these bikes are just fine and they will sell.
However for the price you can buy a whole lot better rides from the other major players, better performing, riding and cheaper too. Also remember that the US does not get half the available offerings from the majors. WHy? We are still wedded to cruisers and overly large bikes for no particular reason.
As regards water cooling it is a fact, get used to it. While everyone whines that it's due to emissions it really isn't. It's all about the performance level that you can achieve with water cooling.

Also, just read this yesterday, H-D can no longer count on us 'Boomers'. We're getting older, and there is less brand loyalty as there once was. People ARE willing to shop around now, and not consider anything other than an H-D. They know this, and they are scrambling to remain competitive and relevant.

As long as I can ride, I think I'll just keep my Road Stars!

+1 I, for one, would love to see some of the bikes that other countries get (cars too, for that matter. Dammit, Volkswagen, bring your Quattro Jettas over here!).

My biggest beef with Harley is the perception of their branding and the mentality it seems to inspire. I've never been as snubbed by other riders as many times as I have by Harley riders.

Just to clarify, though, I've met some of the nicest Harley riders ever; and I would love a shot at owning an Electra Glide at some point.

Oddly enough, not one HD salesman I've talked to is like that. I had a 45 minute conversation with one about Road Stars and how much he liked them more than the Fat Boys.
