Absolutely Incredible! 4 Years, 3 Months ago
How some people abuse what they have!
Before I bought my Roadie, my interest was struck by seeing a custom chopper out front of a mechanics house.
This bike was in a couple magazines and official Yamaha calenders over the course of eight years.
Absolutely beautiful and well built this 2001 ROADIE was.
The owner built the bike along with a few others and all bikes gained exposure by Yamaha USA.
The day I saw it it was for sale at $10k. Everything custom and the engine had it all you wish yours had. Ran like a dream and started cold as if it were F.I.

So my question is: If you bought something similar from the person who built it and had issues down the road where would you take it for work? Myself? The one who built it of course.

Why are my panties in a wad? Well.. I saw it at a slezzy low down dirty mechanics shop twice!!! TWICE! First was for carb issues. It has a HSR42.. Seriously.. Carb issues? Apparently it sat for 7 months. What a douchebag!
Now it's there for "clutch issues" because it sat for another 6 months and plates are sticking so it's at a shop when it only needs riding! WHAT A DOUCHEBAG!

I mean if your gonna buy something to ride 2 miles a year then buy a scooter.
If your gonna buy a machine with more exposure than your first engagement and or obituary then let it sit in the back of a garage and expect to hop on and ride for those two miles a year then go to Hell because your an idiot.

Rant over..

Dude,

Some people just don't get it. They are just in it for the show not the go.

That would piss me off too. Honestly to me no bike or car should sit and just be for show. Kills me knowing people spend millions on a machine that gets towed from show to show never to be driven or ridden....

Not to argue, but just to point out that there are lots of reasons why people don't ride bikes more. Lots. And then there are lots of people who really like to ogle a bike (or many different objects), but don't use it for riding on the highway.

I mean, like how many people have you known that have motor homes they don't get around to using any more? I have one friend that collects guns and has maybe 500 of them. Obviously he likes them, but only shoots a couple of them each year. Or how many people have swimming pools, or sporting equipment, or horses, or tools, etc. that they don't really use, but still don't want to get rid of?

If it's not hurting me, I just let them do what they want--it's their stuff. I don't want them to tell me what I have to do with my stuff.

As to spending money on stuff that's only used for show, or just for personal pleasure, I still think that's a lot better than those who spend their money on drugs to shoot in their arm. There's a lot of them and those are the people I really feel sorry for.

While I agree with RonK about everyone's funds being their own, I've often found that kind of douche looks down their nose at practical "boring" bikes that actually get ridden, and those people bore the living crap out of me.
A big reason I'm not a ride-n-rally going tire kicker that gets all gooey over eye candy. Big deal. Let's go put 2000 miles on it in 4 days and see if that thing stays together, or seeds the highway with pretty shiny pieces. Many do.
If you want my opinion on your eye candy, come and catch me, I'll be riding.

I just wanted to point a couple things out.

First: I agree with 99% of what your saying leaving room for ignorance lol.

Secondly: This Dude is NOT using this bike for show.. It sits.. And sits. And it truly upsets me.
Oh well..

I don't own a show car or bike because I wouldn't pay that kind of money for something that I'm going to drive, not wash, keep outside and generally treat like a cheap ride. In other words, I would use it.

That said... If someone else has a show vehicle that THEY spent buckets of money for... then IT'S NOT A DAMN BIT OF MY (OR ANYONE ELSE'S) BUSINESS WHAT THEY DO WITH IT!
What are we... the gov'ment?

'Nuff said.
