Baron bak and vance and hines short shots jetting 11 Months, 1 Week ago
Hey everyone, this is my first post on here. I just picked up my 05 road star 1700 3 weeks ago and have already ordered the Vance and Hines short shots exhaust and my baron big air kit and jet kit are on their way as we speak. I also ordered a mikuni 37.5 and 40 pilot jets. Im planning on keeping the baffles in on the exhaust and I live at around 800 elevation near Fort Wayne Indiana. From my understanding I'm planning on running a 172.5 main, 40 pilot, clip on the 4th notch from the top and the pms screw between 2 and 2.5 turns out? Is that a good start or should I start somewhere else? Thanks in advance.

Sounds like a great start.

Pick up a set of Yamaha OEM exhaust gaskets if you haven't already. Remember to revisit the torque on the exhaust nuts a few times after a ride, when the motor is cold. The hot and cold cycles and snugging as needed, will help the exhaust settle in properly.

I have already installed the exhaust. I had to after the first ride sounding like a sewing machine! Lol. And yes I changed the exhaust gaskets. I've already done the engine oil change and transfer case as well as doing plugs. Still waiting on the Fed ex guy to come with the Bak and the local Yamaha shop to get the fuel filter in stock. So far though I absolutely love the road star. Sounds great with the short shots too.

Most people do an introductory post but I guess this will do. Getting right down to business. I like that.

Welcome to the forums, I also have an 05 with V&H pipes (long shots) and a big air intake. You are going to really like it.
Grats on getting a roadie as well.
