Bump. It's that time of year when we put them away and start with maintenance

It's been done by a couple members here. Seems like it wasn't a big deal, just time consuming. You could save big bucks. Do a search here.

Re:Front Drive Pulley Nut Maint. 12 Months ago
OK, so I took my cover off of pulley to check the nut and it is on there and tight but there is a tiny bit of play in the pulley from front to back. Is that normal or signs of wear on the shaft and/or pulley? A short vid here:

Thoughts?

That is not normal. Remove it and inspect. Hopefully the splines on the pulley are worn and not the shaft.

The two front pullies we did in SKWEARpegs garage were nice and tight when done.

After applying red Locktite and torquing everything there was no slack in the fitment like you have in your video

I bought a socket at Napa. DK the size. Easy to just measure it. You will do better with an impact driver to remove it.

MY 2003 Roadie 1600 was 36mm. The models a year or two after that had a nut with substantially less mms.

If it is a earlier model like I have get a new fold down washer to use when putting it back together

Assuming it is not left hand threads? Also, I think I see part of the problem, there is no lock washer behind the bolt hence why the nut does not seem to be but just barely contacting it. With all the grease and grunge in there I'm probably going to need a new seal too I'd bet.

Even without the nut, it should fit tight and not move like yours does. Something is worn, guaranteed!
