I had this same thing to happen to my Bike 05 Road*. I kept hearing this noise From my belt, from the front pulley.
So, I went down to the Stealer, to have them look at it. Sure Nuff the damn Nut was loose, and there was NO WASHER !! They
fixed it up for me. I think I had about 7,000 miles when this happened!! I made a post about it back then..
Thanks!!

Frank

Well...maybe I'll check it a little before next winter...like this week.

Between Lucky and Jonna, RSC is pretty colorful place,
Left Nut! Don't let the Hardley guys find out about this or they will have the license to crack on us.

Every time I work on the bike I feel like a woman in the grocery store with coupons I think I am saving money but probably not eh? This IS one of the cheapest things to do though.

I bought that new digital Torque wrench with the savings.

Finally got around to checking mine. Mike thanks for the details! It was tight as a drum and I noticed it was dimpled into the spline in two spots 180* from each other. I'm assuming from factory. Any body else notice this? Just wondering if the dealer might have done something before I picked her up

Mine is like your's Jim but it was only set on one side. Probably the reason it worked loose. It's tight now and set on both sides.
