S'pose anything's better than not using anything. Red might be too much, as it is intended to be "permanent".

Haven't gotten in yet to check. Got the arse end apart for the RoadWing install, so figured now's a good time to check the nut as well. I'll let you know what I find.

i have an 05, an heard the sound when backing out of garage, and IM mostly deaf, read the clinic, and yeah, mine also was finngertite, thank goodness there was a bendover(not lock)washer to retain it, damn, now i gotta go back and add red loctite, BTW, i bent the washer over 2 sides, rather than one. somebody at yamaha must have had a uncalibrated torque wrench, or good dope, or maybe the beasts are just too damn torquey, or all of the above.

I've replaced both of my front pulleys on my R*s with 31 tooth steel ones.

You don't by chance have a 33tooth front, do you Questcap?

Do you all think there is room enough to drill a hole through the nut and shaft for a safety wire? I haven't had my cover off yet.

Sorry, Spydr, I don't... just checked all over.

I was afraid I'd tossed them, thinking NOBODY's gonna want one of these. Doh!!!

I called the stealership yesterday for the fun of it, and they said to "lubricate" the washer and nut, then torque to spec... Funny, then he told me of the washer recall they had..... Looked at the shop manual and they got a new washer for it. I'd sure be curious to see if anybody has has that nut loosen after installing the new one? Jeff
