Hi all in RSC, love this website. 8 Months, 3 Weeks ago
New member as of today but been poaching info from the RSC web since March when i bought my new 2006 Road Star standard. Got such a good deal and i knew it would have carb problems ( 1200 original miles on '06 model ) so i lucked out finding Road Star clinic, could not believe the wealth of knowledgeable people on this site so went to work following advice from the carb. gurus and i have my bike running like a charm, last mileage check it gave me 49mpg in a 100 mile run at 50-55 mph. unbelievable when you consider the carb was so shellacked with old gas it would not idle and ran very hot, returned about 30mpg at 50-55mph. It,s a long story the process i went thru to get the carb working correctly and you all know the ordeal soi will not do the details here. suffice to say i am very indebted to you all for the expert advice on carb work alone. I am a Yamaha owner from 1979, new xs750sf triple special, traded up in '82 to an xs1100 special, incredible highway bike, out of bikes by late 80,s and 90,s then a new Road Star 1600 in 2000, again an incredible highway bike from Yamaha. Trade that up to new Roadliner in '06 and loved that one for the nasty raw power but eventually traded it in '11 to a Kawsaki Vaquero. The Roadliner in summer in Phoenix was a guaranteed fry your crotch from that huge rear cylinder, only negative about it. pressure from sister and b-in-law riding Kawasaki cruiser brought me to try the Vaquero, nice style, good handling but lacking the pushrod v-twin ambiance. Went from there to 2015 HD Roadglide Special new in 2015, very nice build as i was test riding the HD,s for years each Arizona bike week at Westworld and was never impressed until the '15 models, they finally got a lot together on their cruisers. Put 4,000 miles on that one, all Arizona roads, nice ride, beautiful Harmon-Kardon stereo, i thought since i,m a geezer now i need a stereo, not!! Anyway the geezer part overruled, the Harley was too techy no bare-ass balls to the wall like the Road Star, nuff said lucked out with this deal in March and i am a happy trucker on my new '06 Road Star, tons of character and vibes from the bike while your riding. Don,t know why it is with these big Yams but they are there!! Retired now and moved out of Phoenix,AZ not into drugs and gangbangin' loving Northwest Az near Kingman.
