Re:sudden oil leak 2 Years, 8 Months ago
Righty guys, hopefully someone may be able to shine the flashlight of experience on the problem. I cleaned it all up, and checked the levels revealing it to be the engine oil. I could not reproduce the leak at idle or town riding for half an hour, so it's only occurring at more open throttle positions at highway speed. It appeared to be mostly on top of the transfer cover when it did leak, so I'll keep an eye on that area by totally (or as much as I can reach) degreasing the area and riding and waiting. If anyone has had this before, I'd love to hear from you!

Cheers and thank you all,

IF you have a filter on the breather hose coming from the transfer gearbox
and that filter gets clogged up so that it will not vent then oil will have to be forced out somewhere.
There is a vent on the transfer gearbox.
Check that.

Thanks a ton Don, I will do that ; that's certainly in the area of the leak. However I haven't installed a filter on the transfer box, but will trace that back to check the state of play.
