Drilled 8 in each of mine, but I did 2 at a time, started with 4, sounded OK, added 2 more, sounded better, got to 8 and now she's just the way I like it!

My cones came out after cutting them loose from the center pipe, didn't have to play too much with them. I do remember the garage floor was pretty cold that day and I spent a lot of time on it playing with them.

Just got done removing cone and 2nd plate on my 08 R*, now stuck on removing the center pipe. What a bitch. I guess I need to borrow a slide hammer, cause the broom handle isn't working. I'm only doin this cause I'm "kid/wife poor", so if anyone has any aftermarket pipes for an 08 they want to get rid of, please PM meUltimately I probably want it ouder than a stage 3, but this will have to do until something else presents itself.

Yeah, for some reason the weld for the center pipe on the 08 is pretty substantial. Slide hammer did the trick for me and even that took some effort. The weld turned out to be about a 3/16" bead. Did not want to come out.

You must be from Western Pa with that yinzguys.

I just did a stage three on my 1700 today with the pipes on the bike, it took about and hour. Used a Dremel cut-off wheel on the outside tailcone weld, (Actually took 2 wheels for both pipes). Did the 1/2" drillbit thing and a cold chisel around the back baffel, Wedged a 1" crowbar down the tube, rotated it around good with a pipe wrench to break the inside weld and tapped it out with a hammer. Fast, easy, no effort, about an hour. The modification makes the bike really loud in fact my ears are still ringing, wish I would have gone stage 2 instead.. lol

I am thinking about doing this, did you get a PCIII ? and if not, what kind of gas mileage are you getting?

I still haven't found time to complete my stage 3, and I'm still in the stage 2. If you want we could swap 'em ?

O6 Carb. After riding it for a day I noticed the choke comes off after about 2 minutes, before it took about five, engine heat did increase some but it got rid of the raw gas smell coming out the exhaust. I'm checking mylage on my first tank of fuel and still have half left to get official result. I'm a little concerned about maybe running to lean at this point. Does anyone know if Exhaust Gas temp can qualify the proper fuel air mix and what should it be???

Hello folks, Noob here, even worse, I ride a road king, BUT I beg your forgivness and ask a simple question, my wife rides an 06 V-Star 650, and I am proud she does! She loves her bike but wants more "music" will this exhaust mod work for her scooter?

Thanks Deuce

Wouldn't be a bit surprised. But, check and see if there isn't a 650 V-Star forum. They'd certainly know.
