Did a bit more fiddling on the Tourpak ;) 3 Years ago

I got brave, and took my lic plate off, and got the wiring diagram pulled up on my smart phone, and with a little testing, (toby showed me how to use the multi meter) figured out which of the 3 prongs was the brake light... (the yellow wire on my bike) then carefully spliced in the ground and the yellow wire from the trunk... and yes, I staggered the splices so they are not next to each other, they are quite tiny and well taped, it will do for now...

I chose to use the 'emergency flasher' wire off the tour trunk instead of the steady 'brake light' wire because I already have a nice steady brake light on the fender... I figured the flashy light at eye level (to a person sitting in a car) would be more of an attention getter =)

Tested everything 3 times, taped, covered securely then secured everything, tested again, put the license plate back on... tested again, happy happy, then smelled something bad... panicked lol and pulled the lic plate off again, everything seemed fine.

Started patrolling the homestead to find the source of the suspected 'burning electrical' smell and couldn't find anything at all wrong at our place, so I figured my neighbor must have thrown something nasty in the woodstove.

Apologized to toby for being paranoid lol and put the lic plate back on ... everything works fine =)

Toby told me no worries, better to be careful and err on the side of caution.

I like the emergency light bar a lot... I think the flashing is ok, but, yours is different, I think it's an attention getter for sure.... Good job

Thank you for the kudos =)
I agree, I liked the 'flashing' pattern, I figured it could work as an animated brake light. LOL I hope it keeps working for a long time. We are going to get a tube of silicon and run a bead around the edge and around the hole in the lid where the wiring goes through to try to add to the longevity. We do ride when it is wet, and you also never know when a mountain rainstorm will just run up on you and say "HI! have some moisture you look thirsty".

I am encouraged to see what more I can do to my bike now you guys are dangerous.... lol I was told it would be an easy job to run the little vent hose that goes into my air filter from the engine somewhere else... I just have to figure out which hose it is lol there seem to be a lot of them here and there...
