Now I need to get a new gardian bell for Onwego, she doesn't have one yet =) going to see if I can find one that has horses on it like my old one did. =)

Loren, the bell needs to be given to you by a friend. Bad luck to acquire your own. Please PM me your address. I found one with a mustang on it!

It was just a little ride, I was just so tickled to get the bike off the stand yesterday, I couldn't resist seeing if I could still manage the controls for real =)

I will have Toby take me to Redwood acres fairgrounds, where we can use the parking lot for me to get used to my bike.

I see myself really riding by next spring =)

Errrr... excuse me. You nearly died in a major crash and suffered extreme trauma. While in recovery mode you hop on a bike and ride the doggone thing and can't wait to kick butt and take names on it. To me, that is super impressive and inspirational. I give you a 10 out of 10 in courage points!

Weelll... I don't think my daughter would necessarily call it 'courage' lol I won't post here what she IS calling it.

I have just always had the attitude that you get up and chase the damned horse when it turfs you... and then get right back on and ride the B*tch til it knows better
Toby said I was trying to get up on my feet on the freeway, I had to go catch the damned horse that threw me. I was convinced it was running down the roadway.

It did feel awfully good to be in the driver's seat, and being able to manage the clutch and throttle and front brake etc... Then the 2 hour ride 2-up with dinner in the middle was hella fun. (I didn't pilot that one, lol toby did)

Felt good to be in the wind, I was wishing we had our camping gear on the bike so we didn't have to go home.

ahhh well, next year!

Re:Back in the saddle ... [Update 10-12-2017] 4 Months, 2 Weeks ago
We got the results back from Toby's biopsy early. The Dr's office scared the crap out of us, because they called yesterday, and said "we got the results back very quickly, we would REALLY like you to reschedule your Oct 18th appointment. Can you come in tomorrow?" with no indication of what the results were.
Well usually when they want to see you after a biopsy, THAT fast, it doesn't bode well.

So we spent a sleepless night, and went in today, and the Dr said Toby's results were good, no cancer, whew! He still has to have the TURP procedure done, but that is a lot less scary. We have been very relieved, and we brought home some fireball whiskey and some amaretto to celebrate

The tree guy came, and was able to get that dead tree out, without us having to take the shed or barn down. He just climbed that thing like a spider monkey, and after some prep work on the trees behind it, worked his way UP limbing it, then worked his way down, taking the tree out in fireplace sized chunks.

Now, we have a tree mess to clean up, but much better that then a broken house/shed/barn mess from the tree crushing it.
So for us life is smoothing out, and we are hoping for an easy winter. Been doing a lot of praying for the folks south of us in Redwood valley and santa rosa. We have friends down there who are in the thick of it, but so far they are ok. Their family however has lost everything. It really hurts my heart. This almost happened to us, because PG&E has been too damned lazy to check trees around their power lines.
The fact that it can happen in such an urban area seems criminal somehow.
Anyway, I hope everyone is safe, keep the shiny side up =).

LOL we would, except...

We were going to bring my bike home yesterday, so we had a bike here, now that the tree is gone. Toby is still letting Daniel use his bike.
Toby was all geared up, and I went to get the key to my bike out of my purse, and ... no key.
We looked everywhere, and then I remembered that I had tucked it into the pocket of the jeans I was wearing for our trinidad ride last week.
Well I THOUGHT those jeans were on my armchair at home, so, Toby put his gear back in the garage next to my bike, and we went home.
When I got home, the pants I had come home in the other day, WERE on the arm of my chair, but, NO KEY! Sooo then Toby told me to check our travel duffel, for his pants he had been wearing, which I did, which had no key in the pocket, and then I glance down and notice that my riding jeans were also in the travel duffel, with... you guessed it! The key to my bike in the pocket lol.

Soooo my bike is still in Eureka until the next time a sunny warmish day coincides with a town trip

That's ok, I like having the bikes in a nice garage in town actually, Eureka has far more warm(ish) sunny days during the winter then we get out here, and I don't have to dig the bike out of a snowdrift if we want to ride
I think our bikes might wind up staying in town for the winter, my son says he doesn't mind, he likes coming into the garage and looking at all the shiny lol
