Loren I must've missed something I don't blame the man nobody's gonna be cutting on my jewels

well he had his biopsy, on his prostate which is actually quite the ordeal. It came back cancer free, but he still needs surgery to make the prostatic urethra opening larger so he can empty his bladder all the way in one attempt, instead of having to pee every 15 to 20 minutes around the clock. (and sometimes twice in a 10 minute period)

Recovery takes a couple weeks, then 2 months to wean off of the flowmax medication, and make sure his flow is good.

He isn't looking forward to the procedure, but the TURP procedure is pretty light weight compared to what they would be doing if he had cancer in his prostate.

He will be wanting to get back on the bikes before 2 weeks is up you watch lol
when they did his 4 disc fusion in his neck, he was trying to ride his motorcycle 2 weeks into the 6 week recover period

Anyway, he is a bit more cheerful today. He says "lets git 'er done!" He doesn't want anything getting in the way of our next riding season.

I've had a TURP and other than having a cath. for a few days recovery was not too bad, however sitting on the bike presses right on the area of the prostate. I was able to discountinue the flowmax right away.Let him know that his flow will be so much better. Will be peeing like a 20 year old again. My flow changed right away after surgery. Good luck, Ken

Hey Ken
I read your post to Toby and it cheered him up considerably. The Dr said procedure takes about an hour and was very encouraging about it. Toby hearing from someone who has had it done has been very reassuring. So thank you, and Shores as well for the encouragement and reassurance.

=)

Re:Back in the saddle ... [update 10-22-2017] 4 Months ago
Toby made it through the surgery, and the Dr said it all went very well. They let me back into recovery with him, because it was going to be a while before they could get him into a room.
I spent the night in the room with him in a recliner they fetched for me, so I could see to anything he needed. Nursing staff is always short handed and over worked.
The nurses were sweet enough to make sure I had meals too, they said they always have extra trays in the short stay unit.

we are back at my son's, toby is comfy, and tomorrow the catheter comes out.

Recovery they said will be 4 to 6 weeks before his body starts to normalize and adjust to the changes.
He has been a trooper through it all.

Hope you guys are all doing well and you are still getting some fall riding time in =)
