Re:power 4 Years, 7 Months ago
If he gets the right amount of oil in it to start with, then he can work on the next problem, if there is one. He's getting fire and compression on the rear cylinder, or he wouldn't be getting the smoke. If the oil pump drive gear had broken, then he'd of lost enough oil pressure to the lifters, that he wouldn't even have anything happening on at least one cylinder, if not both by now.
The oil at the end of the exhaust pipe, is a tattle tale for either over filling, or a problem with a ring(s)

Hang in there and you'll get it all straightened out. You've got the best people around giving you advise. Reading this thread also helps the rest of us on here learn while we listen to the pros give you advice.
Thanks a lot very big help ill drain oil and change rear plugs after work to night... again very big thanks for the help.......... had the jets out see if I can explain it.... the bras one in the center which was short and fater had ajust a flat head screw styl look. The othe one off to the side was skinny and long an had holes at the end about 3 we carb cleaned only didnt want to scratch or damage them.I would say they were stockbut idk.
The jets should be stamped with numbers telling what size they are. When you get back into the carb write down anything that is stamped on them. Pictures help, especially when you take the needle out with the clip on it.
Easiest way to do a pic on here is to get the free photobucket.com account and load your pics up there. Then when you open up a pic in photobucket on the right side of the screen is a "img" code just click it and it will copy it, then you can past it in your posting on here and it will automatically resize it to fit. other wise pics are a PIA to do on this forum.
Good luck with your bike, i'll keep an eye on the thread to see how it goes. these are great bikes and you'll get it going right.
I would also check the tires for signs of dry rot. you didn't mention how many miles were on it (or I missed that part) but if it sat for 3yrs it doesn't sound like the original owner road it much. It could still have the original tires on it.
also, you said you changed the plugs. Then you said you put "A" new one in the rear. maybe i'm misreading here but did you change all 4 plugs or just 2?

Sorry for delay. Work work work. So far wha t I've bin abel to do is, drain sone oil out close to the 3.5 qts I put in. I'm at least were I should be in oil now just not new yet. Tiers r gtg.bike has 23562 miels on it.I changed all 4 plugs then put a new set in just the rear. I have 2 more for the rear if when the rear look bad when I get a chance to change oil.calling about recall today my dealer is closed on mondays...............now a few things have changed, with the beast I have less white smoke now after I've droped some extra oil.the rear pipe is getting hot. So I have something going on there now.no oil on the airfilter.whent out and started the bike just fine road to work.left work at 4 turned over twice battery dead. (Jusst my luck) .got it started luckily I work with alot if people who have bikes.we checked altinator charging system battery and starter solenoid. We think the noid is bad. Starts in charged battery but not a weak on.which un fortunately mine was because I drained it working on it. I did print out oil chang procedures and the whole thred so I can go threw and start checking things off
