and when you consider that there are literally thousands of bikes on the island, you would think a good AMSoil rep would call at least one of the bike shops on the island....Maybe there is an opportunity here.....

I own and run a bike repair shop. I wrote a note the other day saying that I will sell to road star clinic members for cost + 10% + shipping. I stock and sell AMSOIL. I have inquired about drop shipping. Amsoil will send anything I ask for anywhere in the continental US; but they not make shipments overseas. If you guys in Tenerife, Australia, or wherever else can figure out how to get the stuff from here to you I will be glad to provide it.

Re:amsoil for you motorcycle 2 Years, 5 Months ago
Old thread, but I have a question.
I can get the Amsoil 20w/50 for $10 a quart. I have been using Mobil 1 20w/50 and it cost me $9.99 per quart. Been wanting to try it and want to go with Amsoil in the engine and transfer case in my '06 Midnight.
The Amsoil website states concerning the 20w/50 oil: "Not recommended where an API GL-4 or GL-5 gear oil is required."
I believe our bikes use the API GL-4 in the transfer case.
I want to change both oils and want to make sure I get the correct ones.
What experiences/ thoughts/recommendations on this?

The 20-50 is for the engine only. Use the GL-4 in the tx case. I haven't been able to tell any difference in noise, shifting or performance between Amsoil and Mobil 1.

"Not recommended where an API GL-4 or GL-5 gear oil is required."
No plan to run 20w/50 in transfer case. I may have interpreted this incorrectly. I was thinking they didnt recommend using 20w/50 in the engine if using API GL-4 or GL-5 gear oil in transfer case.

The transfer case would never know the difference if you used 20w50 oil in the engine/transmission.

Exactly what I was thinking. I wonder why they stated that?
