There is a really cool motorcycle museum there too. Hopefully someone will confirm this but I think it is in Cherokee village and is called wheels through time

The museum is in Maggie Valley ( a little north-east of Cherokee). Here's a link: http://www.wheelsthroughtime.com/

I've not been able to get in there yet, but I've had a number of guys told me that it's worth the time to visit.

The Dragon seems to be the main draw but there are many many wonderful and less stressful routes all over the region............ This is one of many sites.......... http://www.blueridgemotorcycling.com/ride-maps/

Yes, Wheels Through Time is well worth the trip. Some very unique bikes in there. The owner (Dale) is a real cool guy and spends a lot of time speaking with the visitors. He is a walking encyclopedia of 2 wheel history.

This is really good advice. Ive been up and down the dragon about a dozen times and there are hundreds of miles of great riding roads elsewhere in that region. For a big ole torquey cruiser like the Road Star the Cherohala Skyway is hard to beat.

Do a internet search for information about riding in the north Georgia mountains. You will be glad you did.

One thing to be mindful of is the weather. Not sure what time of year you're planning for, but cool temps can come in, or rain comes very suddenly around there. Even with very accurate weather prediction apps/tools, it's easy to be caught out in the rain, so be sure to take the appropriate gear.

I agree that there are many fun roads in the area to ride. As Deerkiller said, the Dragon is a Zoo Fri-Sun, but Cherohala, Blue Ridge Pkwy, etc. are just nice rides any day. I don't know how you wanna ride, but if you want to push it then my advice would be to leave a little extra margin for you to, say, be able to change your line or speed through a turn. First time I went through the Dragon I had to stop for a momma black bear following her cubs across the road right after a blind curve, and then some turkeys further down. Or, if you wanna take it easy and enjoy the scenery on that road, I'll just say, "Blessed are they who use the pull-offs."

I second the idea to look into the northern GA mountains, if that's not too far out of your way. I'm fortunate enough to live pretty close to them now and like to head up there every so often. You could ride up to Brasstown Bald or something.

Stayed right in Robbinsville a few times, last visit up rented a kickass 3 bdr 3 bath house about 8 miles out of town, 3 acres mountain stream everything you could want.

Don't skip the Moonshiner 28, like said the Cherohala Skyway is always nice ride. If you're down for day trips Gatlinburg is a nice run too. Lynn's Place has some good grub don't skip that either, it's right across the street from Graham County Jail.

We always stay at Lloyds on the River in Bryson city, nc because its central to alot of things and its a great ride up fontana damn from the hotel to the dragon. Its also dirt cheap with a fantastic view and great staff. As for what to do, call me brother and i will get you set up with some roads to ride and tbings to see. Also get with preston (messer) when you get up there je is a great rider and tour guy especially being a local!
