Bad Spark 6 Years, 9 Months ago
Here's a good one for the Masters;
I have one spark plug that doesn't always spark.
Perhaps I said that wrong...
A charge is not always getting through the wire
and boot to cause the plug to fire.

It's always the same position (rear-left)
It just some times doesn't spark.

Most times when I check the plugs,
they're white. Sometimes 3 are white and
rear-left is sooty. i can pretty much tell when this has been happening because it's the only time that there
is soot in the rear tail pipe (I wipe them out
so I can tell when it's not firing)

I tried trimming the wire back a bit.
Tried tightening it up in the boot...
Sometimes it fires fine, sometimes it doesn't.

Tried to consult the Milner repair manual(that thing
is useless) to see how to tighten the wire at the coil.
Apparently THAT bit of information is not considered important.

So... what can it be? Bad wire? Hot to remove it?
Bad Coil? Can one Side fire and the other doesn't?

Anyone have and fix this problem?

Look inside the end of the boot and you'll see what looks like a screw head. Unscrew it and there is a resister and spring underneath. You can replace the resister with a piece of #6 copper wire. That may be your issue.

Checked and cleaned all of those components.
Didn't replace the resistor tho.

Now to find some 'Solid' #6 wire!

After you replace with wire, check for continuity of the boot too. I had one boot that still did not have a connection.

Have you taken any of the resistance readings with a multimeter

Coil Primary 12 ~ 18k ohms
Coil Secondary 1.53 ~ 2.07 ohms
Plug cap 10k ohms

+10 on the Resistors being replaced with 6 gauge copper wire. Do them all on the bike.

Will do guys, Thanks.
But, How do you test the resistance on the
primary and secondarys?
