Part # for filter 1 Year, 2 Months ago
Can anyone tell me the part for this K&N Filter this guy has on his bike ? and will it come with the K&N Logo on the cover?

How about mounting? I've mounted them before with just a large hose clamp around the throat.

Curt and a couple of other members use that filter, Rob. I'm sure you'll get your answer soon.

I use the 6" round one (066v), and I can't remember the # for the 5x7".

For reference...:

RA-066V - Round, .813" offset, 2" deep, 6" diameter
RA-067V - Round, .813 offset, 3" deep, 5.875" diameter
RC-1980 - Oval, centered, 2" deep, 7"x4.5"
RA-076V - Oval, .5" offset, 2" deep, 7"x4.5"
RA-077V - Oval, .5 inch offset, 3" deep, 7"x4.5"

Make two mounting straps that are screwed into the rubber back of the filter and then bolt to the original filter box holes.

Almost certainly the RC-1980. I run one on one of my R*s, and yes, the K&N logo is embossed in them. I made my own one-piece mounting strap out of aluminum road sign. And, no, I didn't steal a sign... I went to our town highway dept. and asked if they had any junk sign I might have... they gladly gave me one.

I'll try to get a pic of the mount you can easily make on here for you today!

Re:Part # for filter 1 Year, 2 Months ago
i have 2 of them on RS's , you wont beelev the air filter wont knock into your knee anymore . unprotected from rain tho, but youre in CA no rain there.
you will need to rejet, as mucho more air will fly in , causing instant lean, not at idle too much, but as soon as u crack the throtlle . i used a piece of 3/4 aluminum stock from HD, drilled 2 holes to mount the bracket, and a SS 1/4 20 bolt and LOCKNUT to secure the filter to the bracket. You do not want to just hang it on the carb, as the manifold is rubber, and if u backfire, u will have to go find it. I can send pics
when i 1st put it on, i put HVAC tape over 1/2 of the KN filter until i jetted. to get it to run right.
i also have a 3rd bike with the round one.
make sure when u get the filter it comes with the KN spray oil and cleaner set, or ull have to buy that too.
